Deflex-3D – Digital Image Correlation
TecQuipment’s recently launched DefleX-3D is a three-dimensional digital image correlation (DIC) system designed to teach students how to accurately measure full-field 3D surface deformations, strains, and displacements in materials and objects. This cutting-edge technology is a powerful tool for gaining insights that are difficult or even impossible to achieve with traditional measurement techniques.
DefleX®-3D is an advanced three-dimensional digital image correlation (DIC) system designed to teach students how to measure and visualise full-field 3D surface deformations, strains, and displacements in materials. Using two digital cameras, it captures and analyses surface changes to provide detailed strain measurements, either point-based, line-based, or across entire surfaces. The system’s software visualises data clearly and allows easy export for further analysis.
Simple to set up and use, DefleX®-3D offers real-time or post-processed deformation maps, making complex concepts more accessible and engaging. It enhances learning by promoting experimentation, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving, while introducing students to industry-standard technology, preparing them for careers in engineering and research.
The system uses two digital cameras to capture, record and measure small changes to a surface pattern on a specimen.
As a teaching tool, DefleX-3D is simple to set up and easy to use. The user only needs to calibrate the cameras based on the testing scenario to begin collecting data immediately.
DefleX-3D highlights the significance of experimentation and testing in design, simulation, and theoretical concepts..
